86th New York Volunteer Infantry

The 86th New York Volunteer Infantry (“Steuben Rangers”) was an infantry regiment in the Union Army during the American Civil War. The 86th New York Infantry was organized at Elmira, New York and mustered in for three years service on November 20, 1861 under the command of Colonel Benajah P. Baily.
